Students of KSUAE Urban planning dept. became finalists of the International Winter Baikal Urban Planning University

On March 11, 2023, the International Winter Baikal Urban University, organized by the University IRNITU (Irkutsk), ended. The main topic of the 2023 session is "Usolye-Sibirskoye - an industrial eco-city of the future".

Will a single-industry city live without its main enterprise? How to return to its former appearance, getting rid of the unspoken status of the "second Chernobyl"? Is it possible to recreate the city as a system of interaction between people, their communication, friendship? Will there be a strong connection between residents, nature and industry?

25 people from different cities of Russia (and even from other countries) were divided into teams and developed 5 fragments of the city. Students of the 4th year of the "Urban planning" direction of the Institute of Architecture and Design of the KSUAE: Nikitina Evgenia, Muratova Gulgena, Zakirova Kamil and Zenova Yaroslava - not only participated, but also won! Our girls' teams took 1st and 3rd places, as well as a well-deserved nomination for the most detailed analysis and unique proposals!

Students of KSUAE - architects and designers - shared their impressions of participation in the design forum "Platform"

On March 2, 2023, at the Research and Education Center "Heritage", as part of the International Scientific and Practical Design Forum, a panel session was held on Creative Basics of Design in Modern Conditions. Self-presentation”, which was attended by students of KSUAE, Russian State University named after A.N. Kosygin (Moscow) and Udmurt State University.

Students presented their projects to experts - practicing architects and designers, university professors, as well as to the student audience. Forum participants - students of KSUAE shared their impressions about participation in the session.

Alina Mirzabulatova: “It was my first time as a speaker. It was very interesting to get such an opportunity - to share information with people that is useful to them. Such a meeting gave a lot of positive emotions and energy. In my opinion, face-to-face events provide an opportunity for experts from different niches to get to know each other and share their experience with everyone. I have prepared visual layouts for profiles that experts and brands can use as their content in their accounts for more than a month. I provided a visual for some experts and a clothing brand. Here, the harmony of composition, colors and design played a major role, thanks to which not only unique, but also well-written content was obtained". 

Anastasia Brovkina: “It was not the first time I performed in public, so I felt confident. It was great to talk about myself and my projects in front of experts and current professionals. I presented educational and competitive projects, one of which is a blockhouse project at WorldSkills. Unfortunately, we are not allowed to show the competitive work, but the slide shows a clause on the project. It was a blockhouse in the style of constructivism for a family of four, with a garage. The territory was near Kazanka, so it was necessary to take into account the design features next to the water. Each participant coped well, it was interesting to gain experience in "accelerated" design. I liked the projects of guys from other cities - I looked at the design from a professional point of view. We exchanged experience and our achievements, discussed a lot of things. In general, the delight is complete!"

Zulfiya Ziyazova: “It was great to see what other students are doing, what experience they have, the level of work. It was great to hear the opinions of teachers, they prompted interesting thoughts".

Galiullin Garey: “The Design Forum was the first one I had to speak at. It was interesting to observe both similarities and differences in the thinking of architects and designers, to see how it builds into a dialogue. The opinion of the expert council, business proposals and comments, revealing not only theoretical, but also practical aspects of the profession, issues of project management and participation in competitions, were relevant. Personally, I learned a lot about various venues where you can demonstrate your knowledge and skills as an artist and architect, I hope I will be able to try it out soon. I presented two of my projects. Both are associated with graphics: "Leviathan aussichtsturm" and "Bridges - the fifth element." Their creation was not directly related to competitions - victories are secondary, while science and art are primary. Both are an attempt to resolve the dichotomy between the inner feelings of the architect and the fact of the built building. The drawing defines the emotions and feelings of a person contemplating the result of design and construction. This is an attempt to determine the "soul" of the image, to establish the purpose of the search. As for the design forum, I was glad to see guests at our university, I believe in an early new meeting and cooperation!”

Besides, students of KSUAE who presented their projects became participants of the panel session: Adela Gataullina, Ramil Zhdanova, Regina Abdurashitova, Fatih Shakirov, Vadim Utkin.

The 1st International Scientific and Practical Design Forum “Platform” took place at KSUAE

On March 3, 2023, the work of the 1st international scientific and practical design forum "Platform" continued in the format of a panel session on the topic "Practice-oriented training in design: problems, prospects, status of the profession and integration with business." The session brought together 25 experts from the leading universities of the country under the auspices of the Union of Designers of Russia.

The viewers of the online broadcast on the YouTube channel got the opportunity to ask their question to any of the speakers. Key blocks of the forum: - Visual communications; - Industrial design; - Design of the architectural and spatial environment; - Design concepts in the educational process; - Artificial intelligence technologies in various areas of design.

It was proposed to create an association of specialized universities that train designers, exchange experience in workshops, articles and manuals, and joint events. In general, it was decided to make the design forum "Platform" regular, with the obligatory involvement of students in the participation, since such an informal student session gave an excellent response.

Mayor of Kazan Ilsur Metshin visited the academic and research center of KSUAE "Osnovy/Base": "Well done, very impressed!"

On March 1, 2023, KSUAE was visited by the Mayor of Kazan I.R. Metshin. Ilsur Metshin, accompanied by the Rector of KSUAE R.K. Nizamov got acquainted with the new academic and research center of KSUAE "Osnovy/Base", which includes two scientific and educational sections - "Geotechnics" and "Construction".

In the section "Geotechnics" the assistant of the Department of foundations, bases, dynamics of structures and engineering geology demonstrated a hall for testing models of bases and foundations, as well as a laboratory for preparation and soil mechanics. The center is equipped with modern instruments and equipment. This allows solving scientific, innovative and applied problems related to the reliable operation of foundation structures in difficult geotechnical conditions.

In the section "Construction" the Head of the Department of technologies of building production showed the guests the laboratories for studying modern systems of heat, hydro and sound insulation, systems of facade structures, formwork systems, concreting technologies, digital technologies are being effectively introduced in construction, there is a training model of a construction site, etc. Students of KSUAE told the Mayor of Kazan about their innovative scientific developments, participation in programs for the improvement of yard areas, in international architectural competitions. So, they presented a project related to the introduction of additive technologies in construction, an innovative technology for constructing underground spaces under buildings.

At the end of the meeting, Mayor of Kazan I.R. Metshin said: “Well done, very impressed! Over the years we have seen a very serious growth. Of course, I am glad that you continue the best traditions of our Kazan architectural school, but you don’t stand still, you show so many victories, after all, competition is always useful: to see how we are against the background of the same universities in the country, and against the background of such or young, creative novice architects". Mayor of Kazan I.R. Metshin thanked the Rector R.K. Nizamov for the creation of innovative platforms for the development of architecture and construction education and science, the opportunity to teach students the latest technologies using modern laboratory equipment, in new creative spaces of the university.
