Professor A.A. Volkov (Moscow) with open lectures "Smart City 5.0: Immersive Creation" in KSUAE

On March 22, 2023 in the lecture hall of the architectural and educational space of KSUAE "BFFT.space" with open lectures "Smart City 5.0: Immersive Creation" Andrey Anatolyevich Volkov - Doctor of Technical Sciences, Professor, Laureate of the Prizes of the Government of the Russian Federation in the field of science and technology and in the field of education, head of the leading scientific school of the Russian Federation "Theory and Analysis of Systems in Construction", author and scientific supervisor of the project "CSCOPE Initiative: Immersive Creation".

The lectures were attended by scientists, teachers and students of KSUAE from different areas of training, representatives of the professional architectural community. Professor A.A. Volkov presented two lectures to the audience: Immersive Creation and Smart City 5.0. Andrei Anatolyevich presented the concept of immersive creation - the transformation of reality, including a person and defined in the system of his values and identity. The concept is aimed at solving the problem of cognitive imbalance in the progress of culture (society) and civilization (technology), which objectively limits the understanding, effectiveness of planning, designing, using and managing sustainable infrastructure of the present, potentially focuses the risks of technological and social disasters in the future. The environment of creation (mostly cities) becomes a unique multidimensional space of concentration of all technological (multi-industrial) and social (multi-value) fluctuation (random) transitions. The actual transformation of the traditional forms and functions of cities as the infrastructural basis of civilization, corresponding to the changing cultural models, today is not adequate to either the essence or the pace of the formation of a new reality. Smart City 5.0 is an immersive, uniquely complementary civilization of spreading cultures in the continuum of forms "nature-man-society-environment of creation" by transforming the values of the continuum of correlated functions "expansion-identity-harmony-evolution".

After the end of the lectures, Professor A.A. Volkov answered questions from the audience, which demonstrated the great interest of the professional community in the concept of urban development and understanding the needs of modern megacities, as well as the transformation and joint work of representatives of various scientific interests and professions. As part of his visit to KSUAE, Professor A.A. Volkov got acquainted with the activities of the research and educational centers of the university, highly appreciated the level of equipment with laboratory and testing equipment, the variety of scientific and innovative research topics for scientists, the creativity of the spaces created at the university for the training and scientific work of students and teachers.

"Delicious quarter" - the future of the industrial zone of the city of Hanoi, or how students-architects of KSUAE won in Vietnam

"Delicious quarter" - the future of the industrial zone of the city of Hanoi, or how students-architects of KSUAE won in Vietnam

The main objective of the Hanoi Ad Hoc: (Re)Thinking the modern dream of Recent past international competition is to take a fresh look at the industrial zones of the capital of Vietnam and, in 72 hours, develop an idea for the development of a post-industrial city using one of the 20 proposed territories as an example. The topic is relevant not only for Vietnam, but for all post-industrial cities.

The competition invited both professionals and students to participate, organized with the support of UNESCO and the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the city of Hanoi, among the jury members of the competition are architects from various international firms Trung MAI (Atelier Jean Nouvel), Hiep NGUYEN (a21studĩo), Manuel Der HAGOPIAN (Co-founder and partner of the G8A bureau), Duc Le (British architect, lecturer at the University of Greenwich), Dr. Lan-Anh Pham (Head of Cultural Heritage Management Department, Ministry of Culture and Sports).

The competition attracted 435 participants from all over the world. Students under the guidance of our tutors Ilnar and Rezeda Akhtyamovs presented a number of works performed by adjacent teams of students from different years of study.

Summing up the results of the competition took place in two stages. First, a shortlist of 11 projects was determined, which the participants presented to the jury members via videoconference and answered a number of important questions, mainly focused on the possible implementation of the proposed ideas. As a result, two teams became the winners of the competition: one of them is ours, which took second place, losing first place only to local architects, deeply immersed in the context.

The team of winners of KSUAE was headed by a fifth-year student Maria Svetovidova, earlier Maria had an almost one-year internship in the Netherlands, and is currently working on her final qualification work. The team also included junior students - Semyon Egorov and Ksenia Egorova, who gained vast experience during their active work on the competitive proposal. During the online presentation of the projects, the jury noted the good work with the scale ("getting" into the scale) - urban planning and architectural, the current and complete concept of the development of the territory, since according to the proposal, not only the architectural environment is developing, but also a place is created for cultural social events, the opportunity to develop local and global tourism, the architectural solutions of buildings and mafs themselves, and especially noted the hand-drawn graphics in which the project was presented:

- “This project does not consider the object as a heritage that is separated from the city, but connects it to the city, its context and constitutes a sustainable program”; “A very Hanoi solution, not from a theoretical/architectural point of view, but from a user point of view.”

The project proposed by the team is located on the territory of the Homel Brewery: a block in a densely built-up residential area, which, due to its monofunction of production, has become a gray spot excluded from urban life. The idea to create a "Delicious Quarter" (Yum Yum Quarter), or the center of national cuisine and culture of food, was reflected in the different scales of consideration of the project. At the level of the city and district, the inner streets of the production complex connected with the surroundings. The development of the quarter itself is divided into stages: first there are streets formed by cafes and restaurants, then - public space (culinary school, library, cultural center), and at later stages - technological introductions in the form of a vertical farm and ponds with fish and seafood.
