KSUAE international students celebrated the festive "Maslenitsa"
Within the acaademic programme KSUAE international students get acquainted with the culture, history, traditions and customs of the holidays of Russia and Tatarstan. This time, students from Turkey, Côte d'Ivoire, Ecuador, Peru, Chad, Tunisia, Morocco, Mauritania took an active part in the celebration of "Maslenitsa", symbolizing the farewell to winter and the arrival of spring. During classes, teachers introduced them to the history and rituals of the holiday, the children learned how this holiday was celebrated in Russia and how it has been preserved in modern culture.
During practice, students together with teachers took an active part in noisy and cheerful folk festivities, getting acquainted with the traditional attributes of the holiday. The children learned to dance folk dances, took part in round dances and games, listened to traditional songs and ditties, performances by creative groups demonstrating traditional outfits and costumes, got acquainted with folk products and crafts at the fair and, of course, saw a bright performance of burning the Maslenitsa effigy - a symbol of farewell to the cold winter.
The rich entertainment program ended with tea drinking, the students were treated to pancakes and crepes - a symbol of the Sun, joy and the arrival of spring. All the children were delighted with the cheerful festivities, sharing vivid impressions of the holiday and expressing wishes to meet the next spring again at Maslenitsa. Maslenitsa is a unique holiday that reflects the spirit of Russian culture, its hospitality and generosity of soul.
For our foreign students, such events are not only an opportunity to get acquainted with traditions, but also an important step in learning the Russian language. Through cultural immersion, they better understand the mentality, history and values of our country.
