Science Week at KSUAE: A meeting at the Institute of Architecture and Design with architect and professor Elina Mohd Husini (Malaysia)
On February 9, 2026, as part of Science Week at KSUAE, the Institute of Architecture and Design held a meeting with practicing Malaysian architect Professor Elina Mohd Husini. The guest admired the KSUAE research and educational centers and talked to M.S. Latypova, Director of the DASHKA Children's Architecture and Design School, as this children's educational project is unique.
The guests were deeply impressed by the exhibition of works by Professor R.S. Aidarov in the exhibition hall of the Graphic Modeling Department. A.I. Romanova, Director of the IA&D, spoke about her experience designing KSUAE research and educational centers and various workshops at the city's request, as well as the practice-oriented education system at the IA&D. She also discussed the strong artistic competencies of KSUAE students and their design skills in the TIM, starting in their second year.
Professor Elina Mohd Husini gave a lecture to second-year architects on the complexity of architectural design, emphasizing the need to adhere to cultural and regional codes in urban architecture, demonstrating the complexity of combining new architecture with the historical sites of the "old part of the city," and sharing her own completed project in Dubai. It was also important to hear the architect's sound engineering approach to the building's infrastructure (consideration of climate, water supply, and smart energy systems).
The professor highly praised the work of the architecture students on the design of the Grand Mosque (TiArch studio). This demonstrates that education at KSUAE is interdisciplinary, taking into account all global trends in architecture. Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on future joint projects involving the publication of articles, joint internships, and the preparation of grants.
