Director of the KSUAE Institute of Architecture and Design A.I. Romanova took part in the meeting of representatives of the BRICS+ countries, Brazil

In May 2025, the General Assembly of the Association of BRICS+ Cities and Municipalities and the BRICS+ International Municipal Forum were held in Brazil.

In addition to 80 mayors of BRICS+ cities, a delegation from Russia took part in the event: mayors and chief architects of Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, Ufa, Yelabuga, Almetyevsk, Troitsk, Arkhangelsk, Gorodets (Nizhny Novgorod Region), Urai (Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug), Petrozavodsk, Severodvinsk. From Kazan, the educational community was represented by Anna Romanova, Director of the KSUAE Institute of Architecture and Design, Head of the Department of Municipal Management.

The BRICS Municipal Summit became a decision-making point that contributes to the formation of a sustainable professional platform uniting the architectural communities of the BRICS+ countries, and became a key platform for discussing current trends and challenges facing modern cities. Among the issues discussed were: how cities can become more environmentally friendly and resilient to climate change, how to develop attractive public spaces, and how to ensure effective interaction between different levels of governance and education in the field of architecture and urban planning. Representatives of municipalities, architects, and experts discussed ways of sustainable development, the integration of green technologies into architectural projects, the digitalization of the construction industry, the formation of a comfortable and expressive urban environment, and the integration of the educational process into the topic of preserving architectural heritage.

A.I. Romanova presented KSUAE in the light of unique educational technologies, connections with business, innovative scientific and educational centers. The report aroused interest from both the Russian delegation and the representatives of Brazil. As a result of this summit, an agreement was reached to sign a memorandum with the Pontifical University PUC Minas (Bella Horizonto, Brazil), and after visiting the Brazilian Federal University (Institute of Architecture and Urbanism), an agreement was reached on joint scientific contacts: participation in the conference and academic mobility.
