GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT THE PROJECT

Project goals and outputs: based on European experience, updating and improving the existing curricula and introducing new courses in the field of sustainable development of architectural heritage, as well as the creation of innovative infrastructure in the face of growing interest in the architectural heritage; development of teaching aids; purchase of the necessary equipment; creation of international network of multidisciplinary centers in the participating Universities of Russia, Armenia and Iran as Living Laboratories where practical case studies methodologies and development results within urban development are studied and disseminated.

The European institutions will support the updating of BSc and MSc curricula in the field of restoration and preservation of cultural heritage and will enhance the Quality Assurance System adopted by Partner Countries institutions through staff retraining and student mobility.

Erasmus+ project "Modernization of the Curricula in sphere of smart building engineering - Green Building (GREB)"

The project «Modernization of the Curriculum in sphere of smart building engineering - Green Building (GREB)» was realized within the European Erasmus+ programme, in category Capacity Building in the field of Higher Education, from 2016 till 2019.

Our University participated in the project as a part  of the consortium of the following European and non-European universities:

Aim of the project:  to update and increase the quality of curricula in sphere of information technologies and civil engineering, focusing on High-Tech Green Buildings, in Russian Federation, Mongolia and Uzbekistan, using the experience of five leading European universities in order to meet the needs of sustainable development of a global world.

Goals of the project:  :

·         Setting of courses in the partner universities, through the training of academic staff, review, tuning and modernization of the existing curricula

·         Development and setting of BA&MA programs of engineering practical-oriented education for High-Tech Green Buildings in line with best EU practices

·         Creating a Network of Multidisciplinary centers "Green Building", with modern equipment for multipoint video conferencing, and developing students' training and their work in international teams on real-case projects

·         Preparation of training materials, textbooks, e-books etc.

·         Development of a common vocabulary for future joint diploma programmes

·         Creation of an interaction platform of education, science, production and authorities in order to form modern professional competences of specialists responding needs of sustainable society in sphere of Civil Engineering.

 

GREB activities:

October 2017: Seminar for developing of new curricula  

University of L’Aquila is hosting the second GREB seminar, where new curricula for BA and MA are designed in accordance with the ECTS system, together with recommendations elaborated for curricula design and core modules.

April 2018: Seminar on agreement on creation of the Network of Multidisciplinary centers "Green Building" (NGB centre)

The third GREB seminar was hosted in Ljubljana: GREB partner-organization Construction Cluster of Slovenia organizes two days workshops to help each Partner Country’s University to develop the business plan of the NGB centre created thanks to GREB project

May/June 2018: Training of academic staff from Russian Federation, Uzbekistan and Mongolia

European partners of GREB are hosting academic staff of partners from Russia, Uzbekistan and Mongolia to support them in the preparation of new courses developed in the framework of GREB.

April 2019: Seminar of student’s projects, Royal Institute of Technology (Sweden)

The special seminar was held in Stokholm to select the commission for the assessment, approve the students’ thesises evaluation and protection procedure.

September 2019: GREB Final conference in Kazan (Russia)

At the end of the project, official GREB Final Conference was held at Kazan State University of Architecture and Engineering (KSUAE) with the participation of all partners and National and Local authorities.

Results of the project:

After 3 years of development, partner Universities from Russia, Mongolia and Uzbekistan have reached important goal in modernizing their curriculum in sphere of smart building engineering, thanks to GREB!

  • For practical implementation of the developed curriculum a special network infrastructure – Network of Multidisciplinary centers “Green Building” was createdand equipped with modern equipment for multi-point video conferencing. 

Results of the project for KSUAE:

In terms of the GREB project at KSUAE was established the Center for Engineering Systems in Construction "SYSTEMS". The center is equipped with modern multipoint video conferencing equipment and 3d printer.

In terms of the GREB project at KSUAE were developed tree new approved courses:

·         Architectural design for urban agriculture

·         Smart BIM in HVAC. Information modeling in Heating and Ventilation Systems

·         Advanced Technologies Scouting and Implementation. Smart Building Technologies. Workshop

Final International Conference within the Erasmus+ GREB project

After three years of the realization of the Erasmus+ GREB project "Modernization of the Curricula in sphere of smart building engineering - Green Building" the Final International Conference was held at our University with the participation of all consortium partners and National and Local authorities.

Brief outline of the project: The project «Modernization of the Curriculum in sphere of smart building engineering - Green Building (GREBwas realized within the European Erasmus+ programme, in category Capacity Building in the field of Higher Education, from 2016 till 2019. The project activities were carried out by the consortium of 15 European and non-European universities. The aim of the project was to update and increase the quality of curricula in sphere of information and construction engineering, focusing on High-Tech Green Buildings, in Russian Federation, Mongolia and Uzbekistan, using the experience of five leading European universities in order to meet the needs of sustainable development of a global world. For practical implementation of the developed curriculum a special network infrastructure – Network of Multidisciplinary centers “Green Building” was created and equipped with modern equipment for multi-point video conferencing.

Guests of the Final conference visited the Island town Sviyazhsk (63 km from Kazan), the KSUAE campus, the Smart City Innopolis -  town of High Technologies (42 km from Kazan) and made a technical tour to “Ak Bars (Kazan) Arena”.

All guests and participants of the GREB project highly appreciated the infrastructure of KSUAE, the hospitality of the university staff, the high level of organization of the event and the beauty of Kazan!

International Workshop for young architects "ArtPOLIS"

The International School for Young Architects "ART Polis"

The school was delivered with support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Tatarstan.

Duration: 2 weeks

Number of participants: 70

Participants: KSUAE students of Architectural sciences and dual degree programme KSUAE-UEL,  architecture students from 13 cities of Russia and countries of former Soviet Union. As well as the senior school pupils of Kazan schools (including students of Architecture and Design School of KSUAE “DASHKA”).

Object under analysis: Kazan theatre for young audience.

 

Objective: to create interactive transformable environment for conducting educational practices (performance trainings for children and young people, lectures, seminars, master classes, film screenings), festivals, exhibitions, performance art, as well as theatrical performances in various formats (including open-air) on the territory of Kazan theatre for young audience (including the disability service organization).

Sections: theoretical block, master-classes and practical historical site restoration project.

  • Professor Renée Tobe (East London university, Great Britain): British urban planning legislation and aspects of design in the historical environment
  • Professor Peter Lakin (East London University, Great Britain): digital technologies in architecture – BIM and SMART technologies
  • Professor Vicente Guallart (Modern architecture institute of Catalonia, Barcelona, Spain and Higher School of Economics, Moscow, Russia): Prototyping future cities using modern technologies and internet
  • Professor Stefano Bertocci and professor Michelangelo Pivetta (both of them work at the University of Florence, Italy): the role of modern digital technologies in the preservation of cultural heritage
  • UNESCO expert, professor Alkiviadis Prepis (Democritus University of Thrace, Greece): Specific approaches to the treatment of distinct types of Historic Properties (industrial buildings)
  • Architect-urbanist Alkistis Prepi (Greece): sustainable development of the cities
  • Professor Peter Orekhovskiy (Russian Academy of Sciences, Russia): economical aspects of the city development
  • Interactive space expert Andrey Matveev (Russia): features and technological design solutions of interactive environment.

Master-classes:

  • Master-class on paper plastic (Ryabov N.F., KSUAE): Distinct paper-plastic techniques that exploit the potential of a blank sheet of paper, which contains an infinite array of ideas, to solve a specific project tasks.
  • Master-class «Architectural toy of the future» (Yegor Orlov, researcher in the field of the architecture theory): experimental design using the example of an architectural toy as elementary particle acting in urban space.
  • Master-class on formation of different types of presentation of the architectural projects (Anna Akatyeva, architect): theoretical and practical aspects of the formation of different types of architectural project presentations in verbal and non-verbal form.

The participants were divided into 7 teams of 10 members each. Each of these teams was headed by a tutor, who was a professor of the Institute of architecture and design of KSUAE.

Teams explored and implemented one of the following aspects: interactivity, mobility, integrity, complexity, continuity, ephemerality and activity within the framework of common functional zoning.  Continuous communication between teams helped to preserve the integrity of the common idea.  

Phases of the project:

-  getting familiar with the design area, tour around all theatre areas and description of their theatrical features, conversation with director of the Kazan theatre for young audience. 

- team work on the project: information collection, brainstorming, project concept developing and preparation for presentation.

Result: Conceptual proposals embodied in info-graphics using analogue, main drawing sketches (layouts which  indicate functional areas, travel routes for visitors and staff and other information, section drawings, facades, extensions and other drawings which explain the technological solutions) overhead images (in collage form), showing what the new space will look like from the viewpoint of visitors. A list of technologies and technological solutions, which are to be used for the implementation of this project, has been drawn up.

The results of the project were presented to the Board consisted of the local authorities and experts as well as of  "ART Polis" School experts and KSUAE professors.

The implementation of this project is very important for the city of Kazan, as the development of culture gives impetus to the development of society and the economy as a whole, creates favourable atmosphere of the city. The territory of the Kazan Theatre of Young Spectators has great potential to become a center of culture, a place of creative development of the inhabitants of Kazan of all ages.

All participants got KSUAE certificates for vocational training as well as international certificates.
