In 2021 the famous Pritzker Architecture Prize was awarded to Anne Lacaton and Jean-Philippe Vassal! This award is the most significant in the field of architecture and is awarded for contributions to the development of architecture in general, it is an Oscar in architecture, awarded once a year and to only one studio or architect.

This prize is awarded annually "to honor a living architect or architects whose built work demonstrates a combination of those qualities of talent, vision and commitment, which has produced consistent and significant contributions to humanity and the built environment through the art of architecture" (quote from the Pritzker Architecture Prize official website).

As a reminder, in 2018 the KSUAE student Karina Ashrapova after a face-to-face interview with architects made an internship at the “Lacaton & Vassal” in Paris. Upon returning home Karina shared her experience with our students. She admired the friendly atmosphere at the “Lacaton & Vassal” practice, where every employee, regardless of age and status, is an equal member of the team. During her internship Karina worked on a theatre restoration project.

In addition, some our students have previously been and are now interns of the laureates of this most prestigious architectural award: in London at “Zaha Hadid Architects” and at the architectural studio of Richard Rogers; in Paris at Jean Nouvel architectural studio and currently Ruslan Mannapov is taking an internship at the Swiss architecture studio “Herzog & de Meuron Architekten”  by the Pritzker Architecture Prize winners Jacques Herzog and Pierre de Meuron.

Anna Lacaton and Jean-Philippe Vassal are architects whose work we have long admired. We are proud that our university has contributed to the creative work of these excellent architects.
