KSUAE first-year students are adapting to the new student environment
KSUAE hosted a series of psychological sessions for first-year students. These events were organized to help recent high school graduates adapt to the new university environment, get to know their classmates, and reduce anxiety levels at the start of the academic year. The sessions were conducted by psychologist A.B. Belousova. Over 180 students from eight study groups participated. Anna Borisovna informed the first-year students about the university's psychological support services. Psychological assistance is provided to students free of charge, anonymously, and confidentially; students can seek help with any issue, and there is no limit on the number of consultations a single student can receive. Next, the students were given an art therapy-based task: to decorate a "T-shirt." In various sections of the "T-shirt," they were asked to draw their impressions, associations, and ideas related to important areas of their lives—such as "my family," "my city/town," "my dream," and so on. In the following stage, the students shared details about themselves in small groups, using their drawings as a reference. This seemingly simple icebreaker exercise allowed them to look inward, reflect on their values, and share significant personal experiences with their classmates.
At the end of the session, the students shared their impressions. Participants reported enjoying the activity; the drawing process gave them a chance to observe themselves, interact within small groups, and get to know one another better.
